+ What is an Elder?

Jesus appoints leaders called elders who serve as “under-shepherds” to Jesus and are meant to imitate His style of servant leadership. Elders are men chosen according to clear biblical requirements. Elders are always spoken of in plurality because God intends for more than one man to lead and rule over a church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The elders’ duties include guiding, guarding and governing. Elders in the New Testament are also referred to as pastors, bishops or overseers.

+ How do the leaders lead?

In keeping with the leadership style of Jesus and Paul, we try to lead gently, humbly, and approachably, in a down-to-earth manner, with servant hearts, through example, with God’s authority but respecting individual conscience, through team. Besides the accountability with each other, elders also receive accountability as well as support and advice from apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastors/teachers from outside the church through the Confluence family of churches that we are part of.
