Who
is charting the course?
Jesus is in Charge
Jesus is the head of the church.50 He is the real Senior Pastor of Jubilee and we look to Him to build and guide us.51
Beyond That…
Each location is lead by a team of elders with the location pastor as the leader of that team. Bryan Mowrey leads an Executive Eldership Team that gives a wider leadership to all the locations.
Leadership Accountability
Besides the accountability with each other, elders also receive accountability as well as support and advice from apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastors/teachers 58 from outside the church through the Confluence family of churches that we are part of.
Follow Us as We Follow Jesus
We encourage members to follow by emulating our example, honoring the reality that we must give account to God, obeying us within the bounds of God’s Word and conscience, helping us enjoy our leadership, and by praying for us.57
What is an Elder?
Jesus appoints leaders called elders52 who serve as “under-shepherds” to Jesus and are meant to imitate His style of servant leadership.53 Elders are men chosen according to clear biblical requirements.54 Elders are always spoken of in plurality because God intends for more than one man to lead and rule over a church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The elders’ duties include guiding, guarding and governing.55 Elders in the New Testament are also referred to as pastors, bishops or overseers.
Leadership Values and Style
In keeping with the leadership style of Jesus and Paul, we try to lead gently, humbly, and approachably, in a down-to-earth manner, with servant hearts, through example, with God’s authority but respecting individual conscience, through team.56
Executive Elders
This team leads Jubilee by setting the overall vision and strategy as well as overseeing the health and development of the entire church. This team is also responsible for approving budgets for each location and ensures that Jubilee is implementing best practices, policies and procedures for a church our size and complexity.
Location-Specific Elders
These teams are responsible for the development and growth of their specific Jubilee location according to our mission, vision and values.
