The word "love" gets a lot of mileage in our culture... We love the Cardinals; we love our iPods; we love Doritos; we love our wives. Certainly the way we love a bag of chips is not the way we love our wives? In the Bible, there are three Hebrew words that make up the layers of love a husband and wife are to have for one another. This message attempts to explain those three words by seeing how they play out in the lives of Solomon and his bride-to-be.

Contrary to popular opinion, God is not against sex - He's 100% for it! He created sex and meant for us to enjoy it. He even gave us special instructions that will maximize our enjoyment if followed, but if ignored will produce pain and hurt. This is why we have decided to set aside four weeks in our sermon calendar to address the topic of sex. This is the introductory message of the series.

Most of us make New Year's resolutions. Among Christians, a common resolution is read the Bible more. But if the Bible is so important, why do we need a New Year's resolution to help us prioritize it? Maybe it's because we have forgotten WHY we read the Bible. This message addresses the 'why' of daily exposure to the Scriptures by explaining the process of true "heart transformation" and how God's Word is central to that process. May the Word inspire you to love the Word.

By definition, as Americans we all have extra. Moreover, what we do with that extra says a lot about who we are, the condition of our heart and what we think life is all about. Jesus said, "Life does not consist in the abundance of our possessions." Life does not equal, is not the same as how much stuff we acquire to either consume now or consume later. What do you do with your extra? What is the purpose of your extra? This message addresses these key questions and challenges us to examine our hearts and what we really think life is all about.

Over and over again, the Bible paints a picture of a feast that God has been preparing for the restoration of the soul. The table has been set, the candles lit, the wine poured, the food prepared, and roughly years ago on a dark and quiet night in the town of Bethlehem, the invitation went out.

Before the beginning of time, it was God's plan to fill the earth with His glory through man. When man sinned, it put this plan in jeopardy; however, remarkably and gloriously, God did not give up on this plan, but made a way to re-qualify (redeem) man through His Son Jesus Christ. This message attempts to show how God has always had one mission and how you can be a part of it.

Almost everyone wants to live their life the way they want to live their life. The most popular song at funerals is Frank Sinatra's "I Did it My Way". That's the ideal. We want to do things our way. We want to to be in control; however, that is far from our reality. When you look at the economy, violence, natural disasters, sickness and death, you soon realize that you are in control of very little. This is true for everyone except the God in heaven. Psalm 115:3 says that He "does whatever He pleases." This message attempts to show how God is in control and why that is a good thing.

Everybody looks for something secure, something faithful to build their lives upon. However, everything else in this life except the true God of the Bible will disappoint you. This message attempts to communicate why God is so faithful.

God has clearly and definitively communicated His love for us when He gave His only Son, Jesus, to walk this earth, live a perfect life and then die in our place. God sent Jesus not to condemn us, but to save the world from our chief enemies of Satan, sin and death. This message attempts to communicate God's love for people and His plan of salvation through grace.

God's judgment of sin is not a popular idea. Well, we think God should judge other people's sin... just not ours. However, God's justice is actually an act of love and grace because it is a removal of all that is wrong with this world. This message attempts to communicate this truth.

God is Truth. Everything that is contrary to who God is and His ways is sin. He is right and we are wrong. He is straight and we are crooked. He knows what He's doing and we are lost. This message attempts to explain the sin and why we struggle with its reality in our lives.

God is intimate and personal, hearing our every prayer. The Bible teaches us that God desires for us to participate with Him in honoring Jesus through the power of prayer. Why then is prayer difficult? This message attempts to communicate God's heart and purpose for prayer in our life.

God is a relational God. God is a communicating God and He communicates to us primarily through His Word; the Holy Scriptures, which are complete, flawless(Psalm 19:7), powerful (Psalm 29:4-9) and infallible (Isaiah 55:11). This message attempts to communicate the value, the reliability and the authority of the Bible.

Genesis, the first book of the Bible, begins with, "In the beginning God..." The Bible begins with God and so does life. This message attempts to explain the beginning of the Universe as described in Scripture, compare that to the alternate view and explain the implications for your view of the origin of life.

John 2 tells the story of a wedding feast where the host of the party fails to prepare for their guests, which was very dishonoring in that 1st century culture. The church of Jesus Christ has the opportunity to demonstrate their honor for God and value of people by adequately preparing for their guests on Sunday. This message attempts to show how we can best participate in Jubilee's vision through service and giving.

The Bible says that the Church is the light of the world (Matthew 5) and that it displays the multi-faceted wisdom of God (Ephesians 3). Are those overstatements? Is the Church really that big of a deal? While that kind of church may not line up with most of our experiences, that IS God's intention for the Church. This message attempts to describe a Biblically functioning Church and how we can, in fact, have that kind of impact on our world.

Because of the gospel, the preoccupation of Jubilee present is the mission God has given to us - to connect people to Jesus resulting in God honoring life change. It's why we exist both as a church and as individuals. This message attempts to explain the gospel's effect on Jubilee in that Jesus has both saved us from our sin and also saved us into mission.

The final words of Jesus were to go into all the world and make disciples. This pursuit is meant to permeate the DNA and makeup of every church. Therefore, the local church should be constantly changing and constantly growing. This message takes a look at our past at Jubilee, to demonstrate how we have grown and changed over the years, but also examines those foundational values that will never change.

There was nothing good "outside the camp", until Jesus' death brought reconciliation between God and man. Now it is clear that answering the call of Jesus means following him "outside the camp". Are you avoiding uncomfortable situations and places that Jesus has called the church to endure? Where are you running for shelter when the storms of life are raging? The author of Hebrews is reminding us of two things: 1) we will meet Jesus in deeper ways through our suffering, and 2) finding Jesus often costs us something. But our encouragement is that Jesus is worth that cost.

Giving up when things get difficult is very tempting. For the Christian, we can think that we must doing something wrong. "God must be angry with me. Why else would I lose my job?" In these times, we must remember that a) Christ suffered hardship and b) that God's desire is to discipline us because He loves us. This message attempts to make sense of our difficulty and God's discipline.

The writer of Hebrews continues in chapter 7 to make the greatness of Jesus his main point as he talks about the mysterious character of Melchizedek and his relationship with Abraham. This message attempts to explain the extreme relevance that this wordy and somewhat confusing passage has to our lives in the area of getting our help from professional counselors, priests and friends versus ultimately getting our help from Jesus to live a life of purpose and mental health.

Jesus told his disciples that they would have trouble in this life. But despite trouble or hard circumstances, we can continue to walk by faith. Because of what Jesus has done, we have assurance in our relationship with God and can draw near to Him for help in tough situations.

We can drift away from keeping our faith (and lives) based upon Jesus. An unclean conscience strives to please God through self-effort or finds comfort in lesser things. Hebrews 9 calls for our faith to be secure in Christ alone so we can serve the Living God.

Hebrews 11 begins with a definition of faith and then, one by one, parades men and women of old who demonstrated faith. It is an inspiring chapter that has a purpose, which is to get us to the first few verses of chapter 12 where the writer encourages us to run our race. He's explained faith, illustrated faith in action and then he turns the spotlight on us and effectively says, "Ok, now it's our turn." This message attempts to define faith, demonstrate faith and dare us to live out our own lives of faith.

God made a promise to Abraham that came with an oath and He swore by himself because He had no one greater by which to swear. He did this because He wanted us to have maximum confidence and assurance in the promises He's given us.

The writers of Hebrews is writing to Christians who were under pressure and were losing sight of the greatness of God. Because of that, they were becoming sluggish in their faith and were not putting into practice what they knew. This message attempts to convey the strong warning given in Hebrews to not fall away.

There is nothing that is hidden from God. He knows it all. So when we fail, we don't need to run and hide, but we can approach Jesus with confidence. He is our great High Priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses because He Himself was beset with weakness.

This message attempts to show us how we can stay in God's rest by regularly examine our hearts and allowing other to speak into our lives if the see us drifting.

God has a house, a home and it's not made up of brick and mortar, but but people who have submitted to the reign and rule of King Jesus. Moreover, His home is a place of rest and the invitation goes out to all to come find rest in His house. Most of us, however, pass on this invitation and find our souls wandering, weary and wanting. This message attempts to describe God's invitation to find rest for the soul that will bring an end to our wandering.

God is a communicating God. He has chosen to speak to us in many times and many ways, but none more significant, more clear than the message He sent in Jesus. It's a message of hope and love.

This message attempts to show us how we can live the best single life possible.

God calls parents to train their children with grace and truth. Each child has a need for security and purpose that comes from God and is experienced through their parents. As parents and disciple-makers, we need to love and equip others as our Father loves and trains us... with grace and truth.

This message attempts to show us how we can have a marriage that lasts for the long haul.

We believe we have been sent by God to build community...a city within a city. Acts 2:42-47 gives us a snapshot of what that community is meant to look like. This message attempts to show us the NT pattern for community and uncover its primary enemy.

God loves cities and wants to redeem them. He uses us to communicate this message of love. Will we go? This message attempts to communicate God's heart for the city and challenges us to love the city.

Jesus said that He came not to be served, but to serve. This message attempts to spell out Jubilee's desire to serve the City of St. Louis from gospel motivation.

Christianity is in the rear view mirror of America. It has become nostalgia...an idle tale. This is the way the disciples felt after the death of Jesus. The hope that Jesus could be the real deal faded quickly and became discouragement and disillusionment. This message attempts to show how our faith in Jesus can be rekindle and restored.

Through God's command to the Israelites to celebrate the year of Jubilee, we see shadows of the forgiveness and freedom that Jesus brings in full.

We all want to be the hero; however, it seems like when it comes time to do the right thing or say the right thing, we are less than heroic. So we try to find the right role model to inspire us to bravery, but that sometimes makes us feel even more hopeless. This message attempts to show us how we can have authentic courage through our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Everyone understands and realizes the danger of financial debt. However, must of us are not aware of the spiritual debt we owe. This message takes a look at how the first Passover points to Jesus as our Savior.

Through the life of Caleb we see what it means to live in faith, trusting in who God is and what He can do.

Jesus is not contained to the New Testament...He is in the whole Book! This audio records the introductory message in the series, "Finding Jesus in the Old Testament". This message attempts to show Jesus as our Prophet.

Many of us live our lives based on money myths. This message uses the "Feeding of the 5000" event to demonstrate that God takes our inadequacy and to turn into an abundance for others.

Most people may think they could stand to be a little more generous, but no one thinks they're greedy. Because greed often camouflages itself with good intentions and can even be considered a virtue. That is why Jesus said to "Watch Out! Be on your guard against all types of greed". Greed is hard to detect. This message attempts to show us how it easy to be blinded by money sickness called greed and how we can rid ourselves of it.

Throughout scripture we see that contrary to our culture, money is really God's, and He does with it what He pleases. Understanding this helps us to realize that we are only managers of resources that are ultimately God's.

Christianity isn't about exchanging bad moral behavior for good moral behavior. It's not changing out "to do" lists, but rather it's about an internal transformation that renews our mind than enables us to follow God's will. When that happens, we find ourselves engaged in areas of service and places of community.

Most people view the Church as a place they go. However, the Bible talks very little about going to Church, but says a bunch about being the Church. At Jubilee, we want to be the Church. We want to be a Biblically functioning community. If that's the case, than the love amongst us must be genuine. This message attempts to communicate what genuine, authentic love is among God's people.

Through the parable of the persistent widow we see that God loves to be asked and He loves to give. Therefore, we should pray often and regular.
