What Did You Expect? (By Paul Tripp) is a helpful book on marriage. I’m sure I’ll be quoting from it at our Upcoming Marriage Seminar on March 10 from 9am-3pm. Tripp states that the reconciliation of a struggling marriage “must be a lifestyle, not just the response you have when things go bad.” We need to realize the character and quality of our life is forged by little moments each day. We must have a daily “moment by moment approach” because life is built by laying little bricks each day. A brick can be little choices, an action, small moment … [Read the rest of this post]

I want to share with you an excerpt from a message from Joel Virgo, Lead Pastor of CCK in Brighton, UK. It’s great insight and it’s a great message if you want to listen to it in its entirety (watch online).
God’s Training, God’s Timing
I think modern Christians are much more interested in crises, God is very interested in process. If your Christianity is all about crises you will always be frustrated. Every answer has to be a now answer, a pow answer, a zap answer, a sudden answer, and if it isn’t then your not interested,

At Jubilee we say our purpose is to Connect People to Jesus, Resulting in God-honoring Life Change. I love this purpose and have given my life to be a part of it. One thing that can be lost in this statement however, is the fact that my life is in constant need of ongoing God-honoring Life Change.
When we consider our mission we typically think of others. This is actually what makes a mission statement successful. If it leaves us thinking only of ourselves, it’s not inspiring. Inspiration is fleeting when we don’t look beyond our own lives. … [Read the rest of this post]

Coming to grips with your own sin can be very difficult. We are typically overwhelmed with feelings of sorrow and regret, which can be a good thing. After all, a lack of regret and sorrow would be consistent with a hard heart.
However, what we typically do with regret is focus on what we should have done differently and our remedy is to try “to do better next time.” The problem is that it happened and there’s no changing that and there’s no positive behavior that will undo what’s done. Our only way to make a positive change is repentance.… [Read the rest of this post]

The number one issue when it comes to money and wealth is ownership. Who is the owner of the money and assets in your possession? Well, according to your bank statements, 401k statements and the titles to your home and car, you are. However, the Scripture paints a different picture. In Exodus 19:5, God says, “The whole earth is mine.” Job 41:11 states, “…Everything under heaven belongs to (God).” This is not only true in a general sense, but He specifically owns everything. Psalm 50:10-12, “For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. … [Read the rest of this post]

Marketers know something about how you spend money that perhaps you don’t know about yourself and that is your buying decisions are emotional and not rational. That’s why car commercials aren’t really about the car, but about how the car makes you feel. That’s why jean commercials are not really about the pair of jeans, but how the pair of jeans makes you feel. Marketers know that they will be more successful targeting your emotions than your rational, because when it comes to finances, we tend to make emotional decisions. As you can imagine, this also is the reason why … [Read the rest of this post]

Every morning you probably take at least one glance in the mirror to see if everything is in order (i.e. hair, teeth, clothes, etc). You do this so that if there’s something that needs to be adjusted, you can make the adjustment and out the door you go. This practice keeps you looking good, and at times could even save you from embarrassing yourself.
What if I told you that there was a mirror that doesn’t just tell you how you look on the outside, but it uncovers the true motivation of your heart? Would you care to glance at … [Read the rest of this post]
