In Genesis 2:21, God said that among, “…every beast of the field…there was not found a helper suitable for him (Adam).” So God gave Adam, Eve. For those who desire marriage, God has someone in mind who will be suitable for you, which means there are mates who are not suitable. First question I would ask someone seeking a mate is, “Are you looking to God to show you this person or are you like Adam and are looking among the animals…among the beasts of the fields? I’ve counseled too many people who thought they were marrying the person of … [Read the rest of this post]

There are echoes of truth all around us in culture. Sometimes we have to listen and look for them, but they are there. The Bible says that God has put eternity in men’s hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11). People long for the eternal and the perfect, they long for the truth of God unknowingly. And we have the opportunity to respond with understanding and love, to explain the echoes of truth and point to Jesus.
The Hunger Games is a recent series of books and a move that provides a good example. I’ve heard people point out that the teen violence depicted … [Read the rest of this post]

Parenting is both a joy and a challenge one learns with “on-the-job-training”! Here’s a brief checklist on some ways to lovingly lead your kids.
1. Know yourself and always seek improvement.
<p style="padd
ing-left: 30px;”>As adults, we basically assume we are balanced and have a “fair” approach toward life. The first step in parenting is realizing we’re often neither of these! We can be sensitive, especially when it involves our children. Our motives are often tainted by our insecurities and our own personal desires and “needs”.
As parents, we need to be honest and vulnerable with … [Read the rest of this post]

The number one issue when it comes to money and wealth is ownership. Who is the owner of the money and assets in your possession? Well, according to your bank statements, 401k statements and the titles to your home and car, you are. However, the Scripture paints a different picture. In Exodus 19:5, God says, “The whole earth is mine.” Job 41:11 states, “…Everything under heaven belongs to (God).” This is not only true in a general sense, but He specifically owns everything. Psalm 50:10-12, “For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. … [Read the rest of this post]

Marketers know something about how you spend money that perhaps you don’t know about yourself and that is your buying decisions are emotional and not rational. That’s why car commercials aren’t really about the car, but about how the car makes you feel. That’s why jean commercials are not really about the pair of jeans, but how the pair of jeans makes you feel. Marketers know that they will be more successful targeting your emotions than your rational, because when it comes to finances, we tend to make emotional decisions. As you can imagine, this also is the reason why … [Read the rest of this post]

Every morning you probably take at least one glance in the mirror to see if everything is in order (i.e. hair, teeth, clothes, etc). You do this so that if there’s something that needs to be adjusted, you can make the adjustment and out the door you go. This practice keeps you looking good, and at times could even save you from embarrassing yourself.
What if I told you that there was a mirror that doesn’t just tell you how you look on the outside, but it uncovers the true motivation of your heart? Would you care to glance at … [Read the rest of this post]

Why Pay Cash for Cars?
Simply put it’s cheaper because instead of paying interest, you could be receiving interest. Consider Borrowing Bob and Saving Sam, both want to buy a $15,000 car, but one borrows to purchase and the other saves to purchase. Borrowing Bob gets a loan at 6.6% (avg rate on a used car loan) because his credit is decent. His loan payment is $295/mo and for a $15,000 car, ends up paying a total of $17,650. Saving Sam only needs to set aside $243/mo for his car because he puts his money in a savings account and … [Read the rest of this post]

This blog might make more sense if you read my last post on debt and/or listen to my message on debt. With that in mind, here is rough list of priorities if you are in debt and want to get out (the order is important):
1. List all your debts on a piece of paper that includes the amount owed, the min payment, and the interest rate of each debt. Go to prayer to repent (if you feel you need to) and ask God for wisdom and grace.
2. Show this piece of paper of all your debts to a … [Read the rest of this post]
